The agencys board has lined up Madew to start in the role this April more than half a year after it was vacated by Phillip Davies at the end of his three-year term. Romilly Madew commenced as Chief Executive of Infrastructure Australia in April 2019. Outgoing Green Building Council of Australia GBCA Chief Executive Officer Romilly Madew was today awarded an Order of Australia award in honour of her distinguished service to the construction sector as a change agent and advocate for sustainable building practices. She currently sits on a range of boards and taskgroups. As Chief Executive of the Green Building Council of Australia Ms Madew represented over 650 companies with a collective annual turnover of 40 billion and presided over the Green Star rating system which has seen more than 2250 projects certified across the country.

Today Madew is not only putting a sign sealed and delivered stamp on her time at the helm of this important green building movement but about to take on the equivalent of a small Everest. Romilly is an experienced advocate for green building sustainable communities and cities both nationally and internationally. Under Romillys stewardship the GBCA has become a trusted advisor to government and a global leader among the 70-strong green building council network.
